About This Project

The major expansion project is a Western Australian State Government-funded project which, in partnership with Ramsay Health Care, is being delivered through an innovative procurement partnering solution to enable construction without disrupting full services within the hospital.

There is a key focus on expanding mental health services to a 102-bed inpatient facility through adding: 90 inpatient beds (60 shelled); 12 emergency department influenza-like illness (ILI) bays to treat infectious diseases such as COVID; a Behavioural Assessment Urgent Care Clinic; 6 Coronary Care beds; operating theatre; Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory; and various back of house improvements.

Construction also included expanding the capacity of the multi-storey staff car park by an additional 215 parking bays.

Transformative Outcomes

Introduced a commercialised procurement strategy through the State process and demonstrated the value of outcome focused, relationship-based contracting.

Modified the scope of the car parking structure and facilitated better utilisation of project funding to enable coverage for future parking demands.

Demonstrated the need for additional scope within the Mental Health Unit to enable independent operation of cohorts, and ability to achieve this within the overall project funding.
