Bridge42 Hosts Project Management Showcase for Curtin University Students

Bridge42 Curtin University Project Management Showcase

Bridge42’s Perth office hosted a group of domestic and international students undertaking postgraduate studies in project management at Curtin University on 17 July 2023.

Several of Bridge42’s senior team members presented case studies on their respective projects to demonstrate project management principles in action ranging from scope management, stakeholder management and programme management through to quality control and contract administration.

The project showcase session was arranged by Bridge42 Project Director, Tracy Mackay, who is also a Curtin University Project Management Program Advisory Committee Member and Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) WA Chapter Councillor.

Tracy said, “I am fortunate to be enjoying a rewarding career as a project management practitioner and actively work towards creating opportunities to bring others into this profession.”

“Through my roles with the AIPM and Curtin University, I am sharing my knowledge, experience and passion for project management among students and industry members.

“I always encourage the inclusion of ‘real life’ case studies and exemplar projects to enhance students’ understanding of project management beyond the academic page.

“I am also a strong supporter of gender diversity within this profession. I have previously been invited to speak at a Curtin University Women in Project Management panel event to highlight the range of successful pathways for women.”

Clinton in’t Veld, Unit Coordinator and Lecturer at Curtin University’s School of Design and the Built Environment, said that facilitating student engagement with industry was an important part of augmenting project management learning.

“Engaging with industry practitioners helps to connect project management theory with practice for our postgraduate students enrolled in the graduate certificate, graduate diploma or master degree in project management,” Clinton said.

“The project case studies presented, with a forum to ask questions, were invaluable for the students to see how their learnings could be applied in a real-world context.

“The session helped them to appreciate the opportunities and challenges of practicing in the role of project management, while gaining insights that can help with their studies.

“We really appreciated Bridge42 for hosting us and the team’s efforts in sharing their project insights.”
